Laser Vein Treatment

Laser Vein Removal

Candidates:

  • Candidates for laser vein treatment have spider veins, unattractive small red, blue, and purple blood vessels, most frequently on their legs.

Intended Result

  • Laser vein treatment reduces and/or eliminates the appearance of spider veins and creates a pleasing cosmetic result in affected areas.

Procedure Description

  • Done on an outpatient basis, laser treatment requires no anesthesia.
  • During the procedure, light energy is absorbed by the blood vessels. This heat absorption causes coagulation of the blood vessel, which is subsequently absorbed by the body.

Healing Process

  • Following treatment, patients should expect some redness or swelling, which usually fades within 1 week.
  • While in the sun, sunscreen SPF20 or greater must be worn for at least 4 to 6 weeks following a treatment.

Enhancement Options

  • Sclerotheraphy or saline injections into larger veins may be incorporated into the treatment plan.

Insurance Guidelines

  • Because this procedure is considered cosmetic, it is not covered by insurance and must be paid by patient.
