Chin Enlargement

Candidates

  • Individuals with small or receding chins may consider a chin enlargement.
  • A chin, which is small in comparison to other facial features, may cause the nose to appear longer and prompt some persons to have a chin enlargement.
  • Those who desire an increased chin prominence will also benefit from a chin enlargement.

Intended Result

  • An improved profile will be achieved with a chin enlargement.
  • With a chin enlargement, a more attractive jawline and balanced facial features are also created.

Procedure

  • Done on an outpatient basis, the procedure is completed under sedation and local or general anesthesia.
  • An incision is made inside the lower lip or under the chin. An implant composed of silicone rubber, Gortex, or calcium substitutesis placed in the incision.

Healing Process

  • The patient goes home with a small pressure dressing over the chin.
  • Initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication.
  • Swelling, tenderness, and possible local numbness gradually subside in a month or two.
  • Enhancement Options

    • Having liposuction of the neck, nose reshaping, a neck lift, or laser skin resurfacing in conjunction with a chin enlargement will enhance the result.
