Forehead Lift

Procedure

  • Done on an outpatient basis and under general anesthesia, the forehead lift is accomplished by placing several short incisions in the hairline.
  • The operation is performed using an endoscope, a narrow hollow instrument with a fiber- optic light source and camera.
  • The forehead is lifted and repositioned while the muscles that cause the frown lines are weakened.

Healing Process

  • After a forehead lift, the patient goes home with a head wrap dressing, which is removed on the first or second day after surgery.
  • Initial discomfort is easily controlled using oral medication.
  • Sutures or staples are removed within 10 days.
  • The majority of swelling and bruising is typically gone in 7 to 10 days.

Additional Enhancement

  • Procedures including lower and/or upper eyelid lift, facelift, or other facial procedures or implants will enhance the outcome of your cosmetic surgery.

Candidates

  • Individuals with a sagging forehead or brows that hang too low and too close to the eyes may want to consider a forehead lift.
  • Persons with deep vertical furrows between the eyebrows are also prime candidates for a forehead lift.

Intended Results

  • A more youthful and rested appearance in the forehead and upper eyelids is achieved through a forehead lift.

Insurance Guidelines

  • Because a forehead lift is cosmetic surgery, it is not covered by insurance. The patient is entirely responsible for payment.
